Feeling Fall + Hello Monday Linkup

25 comments:

This was another outfit I put together for the styling event with CS Gems and The Fashion Lane Truck a few weeks back.  I absolutely love this top!  The subtle fringe, patterned yoke, and sleeve ties are all such fun details.  I also love that it's definitely got a 'Fall vibe', but is light enough to break out in August or September without dying from the heat.

Speaking of putting together outfits... In a couple weeks, Caryl and I are going to New York for a long weekend and attending the RewardStyle Fashion Week Party, and I am already stressing about what to wear!  Obviously the occasion requires something new, but I am struggling to pick.  I did order these flats finally, but I'm not sure if flats are appropriate for the party.  In years past, all the attendees appeared to wear cocktail dresses and heels.  I am so not a dress and heels person, but I don't want to stick out either.  These mixed metallic heels have been sitting in my shopping cart for awhile now, and they're quite tempting.  However, if I get them also, I won't have much budget left for the rest of my outfit.  Oh the struggle.  If I were budget-less, I adore this crazy expensive Mary Katrantzou dress and this less extravagant, but still way over budget embroidered lace number.  Maybe I'll just wear jeans and a t-shirt, that's what I'm most comfortable in after all ;)

Glam Camo

6 comments:
Glam camo... maybe I'll call this look glamo for short.  Or maybe not...
Anyhow, this outfit just might be one of my favorite outfits ever.  Bold statement, I know.  It will definitely make it in my annual favorites roundup though.  There's something about the pairing of super masculine pieces like boyfriend jeans and a camo utility jacket with girly items like a statement necklace and gold heels that just makes me happy.  And then there's this necklace... I'm obsessed.  I've only had it a little over a week and I've worn it multiple times.  It seriously goes with EVERYTHING.

In other news, notice a few changes on the blog?  I'm in the process of a redesign, so please forgive me during the awkward in-between phase.  Between my full-time job, church commitments, blog content, and sort've having a life, I haven't really had time to sit down and crank it all out at once, but I've got a plan and I'm really excited about it!  Once I've got the design how I want, I've got plans to diversify my content a bit too.  Just trust me, it's going to be awesome ;)  I've already added a 'Shop' page that links to a bunch of items I've recently bought, tried on, or would love to add to my closet, check it out here.

The Boyfriend Blouse

8 comments:

This is one of the looks I styled over the weekend with CS Gems and The Fashion Lane Mobile Boutique.  When picking my outfits, I immediately migrated towards this shirt (it's olive green and oversized!), and as soon as I tried it on, I knew it had to go home with me.  Put the word 'boyfriend' in any clothing description, and I'm all over it.  Since it's a pretty voluminous silhouette, I went with a very slim bottom and a chunky heel to balance it out.  The perfect accessories also helped keep the look feminine.

All the photos from Saturday were taken by Stacy, from CS Gems, at the Muny in St. Louis.  Aside from a little (downpour of) rain, the day could not have been more perfect!  Caryl, Laura (owner of The Fashion Lane), Stacy and I all had such a great time picking outfits, chatting all things fashion, and getting to know each other better.  I love how blogging gives me an opportunity to work with local companies and meet new friends.  SO sappy, I know ;)

PS- if you're in the St. Louis area, The Fashion Lane will be at World Wide Technology (in Maryland Heights) today from 11-1.  I'll be stopping by also, and I'd love to say hello!

Lace-up Flats and Hello Monday Linkup

Holy Monday! Where did the weekend go?!  My weekend was fantastic, but I need like three more days.  Please??  I usually unwind a little over the weekend (Netflix binges on Saturday morning in PJs... Taco Bell breakfast optional... Anyone else?) but this weekend I was going nonstop!  I had a crazy early morning on Saturday so I could get all dolled up for a styling event with CS Gems and The Fashion Lane Mobile Boutique (a store on a truck.  Yes OMG.)  After that Caryl and I slammed some Greek food (being photographed is hard work...) and hung out with my dog and chatted closet organization, blogging, and everything else.  I finished up my day getting some desperately needed groceries, and then falling asleep sitting up trying to watch a movie with the husband.  Then Sunday was another jam packed day!  Started my day with early church (which is 3 hours so that's like half my day lol!) and then a quick nap, making an appetizer to bring over to a friend's for a game night, blog photos, answering emails, and actually going to game night.
And since this is a style blog... I wore this outfit a couple weekend ago for errands, but just got around to photographing it yesterday.  I realized my black lace-up flats haven't made the blog until now, which is like whoa because I wear them ALL the time.  I am obsessed.  And said obsession justifies buying the olive ones too right???  Because I think I need them in my life.  This inexpensive little leather backpack has seen a surprising amount of use already too!  It's super convenient and the price cannot be beat.  I wouldn't recommend the cognac though, it looks super cheap in real life, while the black looks pretty impressive for under $30.

That's all for now.  Stay tuned for a couple of my looks from the styling event this weekend, a tutorial on industrial pipe closet systems, and a few other fun posts this week!

What I'm Wednesday

What I'm excited for: My upcoming backpacking trip in a few weeks in the Uintas with my whole family.  This is a big deal because my mom and sister don't usually go for roughing it to this extent, but they agreed so there's no turning back now!  Freeze dried food and sleeping on the ground here I come!  Really though, I love it.

What I'm awaiting: This neutral rug for my closet room, because the carpet in this house is disgusting. And ugly.  So ugly.

What I'm planning to wear on repeat: These new Kendra Scott Adair filigree earrings.  They seriously go with everything and are super lightweight.  Next I think I need this ring.  PS- if you want a coupon code for 15% off your purchase at Kendra Scott, let me know!  I've got a stack of cards with unique coupon codes :)

What I'm still not comprehending: That I won a $1000 (yes THREE zeros) 7fam giftcard on instagram. WHAT?!  I have a shopping cart full of goodies already, and it doesn't even make a dent in that amount.  I might've squealed in the Panda Express drive through when I got the DM on Instagram. WOOOO!  I am set on getting these winter white skinnies (so perfect for Fall!) and these super worn boyfriend jeans, and trying to decide on the perfect dark wash skinnies to replace my Paige jeans that bagged out ridiculously after just a few washes...

What I'm deciding between: Mirrorless cameras and extension tubes.  I want something lighter and more compact than my DSLR (especially with the upcoming backpacking trip), but I don't want to sacrifice too much control and just get a point and shoot.  With the help of my crazy skilled photographer father-in-law, I decided a mirrorless camera and an extension tube would be the perfect combination.  I'm considering the Sony a6000, FujiFilm X-A2, and the Samsung NX500.  I was totally sold on the Sony a6000 (we're talking thousands of raving reviews on the interwebz, and the father-in-law recommended it) but then I discovered you can't flip the LCD screen around to see it from the Front.  E thinks I'm ridiculous for fussing about this, but when you 1) take a lot of your own blog photos and 2) take a lot of group selfies, this matters mucho.  If I'm gonna drop that kind of moolah, I want EVERYTHING about the camera to be perfect.   Am I being unrealistic?  Any recommendations???

Oh and sorry my skirt is wrinkled.  I steamed my skirt and then promptly drove to dinner and sat there awhile, which does not bode well for the wrinkling...  But dinner was delicious so it was worth it ;)

This weekend was a whirlwind.  I feel like I did 500 things and never even got to take a nap, which is way sad because I really like naps.  I wrapped up a huge graphic and web design project, did a bit of shopping at Loft's 40% off sale (buys linked below, I also wanted this jumpsuit, but where does one wear a jumpsuit in real life? Sigh...) and spent mucho time building closet bars and hardcore organizing my closet room.  I am SO excited about it, a sneak peak is below, but stay tuned for a full tour and detailed instructions on how my handy dad and I built the industrial pipe closet system.  It's awesome.  You'll want one ;)  {See more on my snapchat- roberts_jenna #shamelessplug}
