When I'm uncertain about a trend, I like to buy an affordable 'trial' version first. It took me a bit to warm up to the lace-up trend, but when I discovered this tee at Old Navy I decided to give it a go.
I dig it.
Lace-up tee [exact under $20] // Red utility vest [exact, option with more sizes] // Destructed denim [exact under $25] // Vince crossbody [exact, more blush options] // J.Jill d'orsay flats c/o [exact, more d'orsay flats]
I'm not sure if I'll upgrade anytime soon, as I'm quite satisfied with my budget rendition. It comes in a few more colors, including a gorgeous wine color. I did find that it ran a little small, particularly in the arms. I went for the medium and the arms were snug, which isn't standard.
Also, these shoes. They took no break-in time at all, and also come in a plum and hunter green. I think I may need the hunter green <3

Pick of the week: Metallic plum Nike Internationalists. I have a small collection of Internationalists, but no metallic ones, so these are definitely calling my name.

Great look Jenna! Love the colour of your vest, it looks great paired with your lace up top. I'm the same way with trends that i'm iffy about. I like to do a test run before I actually invest in it.

So cute, love your lace up tee and vest. I'm finding more and more tops are getting too tight in the arms...and other women are saying the same thing. I don't know what's going on.
ReplyDeletethose flats look sooo pretty!!

I just realised I don't own a single laced-up item myself LOL I'm seeing so many women pull it off beautifully, that I'm really getting tempted. And I'll probably do what you did, Jenna, get a budget option, to test the waters first :)
ReplyDeleteOn the blog today, I'm tackling something literally "borrowed from the boys", i.e., an item of clothing I took from my husband's wardrobe. Come on over and see how I (and four other women of all ages) styled pieces we, ahem, borrowed from the men in our lives.

I did the same thing with the lace-up trend but with an H&M bodysuit! It's so much better to get something affordable first to make sure you like it.
