Hi! I'm so happy you're here :)
The goal of my blog is to share my real life outfits. I hope they will help inspire new creative combinations, the thoughtful addition of pieces to your wardrobe, and the confidence to tackle trends. I love sharing tips and tricks, personal anecdotes, my favorite investment pieces, and savvy finds.
about sincerely jenna marie
I started a fashion blog back in 2010, and it was awful. In 2012, after ensuring I scrubbed the internet of it, some serious rebranding, and the realization that sepia wasn't a cool filter for outfit photos (so young, so naive), I got Instagram and eventually started posting my outfit photos. When I started gaining a little traction in Instaworld, I set a landmark of 500 followers. When 500 people wanted to see my outfits everyday, I would start a blog. That landmark came more quickly than I expected, so I hastily picked a name, bought a URL, re-launched my "life"style blog as Sincerely Jenna Marie in the Summer of 2013.
My style is classic with a twist of tomboy, a dash of edgy and occasionally a super girly touch or two. Totes logical, right? Yeah no, but I've never been any good at restricting my self to one single aesthetic, so why bother trying. I absolutely succumb to trends, no shame. They're fun, what can I say. (I will never cave and wear pom-poms though.) However, I definitely try to keep my trend chasing on a budget. I am a definite mixer of high quality and disposable clothing and I love a good bargain. As a result, many items I feature are easily under $100, most under $50. Although I do appreciate high-quality shoes, Alexander Wang Tees, designer denim, and other pricier wardrobe staples.
my style and shopping philosophy
My name is Jenna. I'm in my twenties, and I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. I went to school in Indiana (although I will never warm up to being called a 'Hoosier') and majored in Business Law and Technology Management and minored in Spanish. Yes, I'm a total nerd. Now I work in IT as a developer.
Outside of my professional stuff, I love to cook. Before I ever committed to a fashion blog, I tried my hand at food blogging... I think I'm a better fashion/lifestyle blogger though. I hope. I also love any outdoor activities: hiking, camping, fishing, backpacking, running, swimming, you name it. I'm kind of crafty, so I draw, paint, pretend I can sew, and the sorts. Basically, I like a lot of things. Most things, actually. There are a few things I don't like though: bad drivers, pickles (If they even touch my sandwich at a deli, I can't eat that part. It's a little debilitating), cats, accounting, 'final sale' items, mayonnaise, Walmart, how I look in the color pink, and early mornings.
blog monetization and affiliate links
Sincerely Jenna Marie is a monetized blog, but I certainly won't be quitting my day job anytime soon. I utilize affiliate marketing and sponsored posts. Sincerely Jenna Marie also occasionally receives vendor/ brand sponsorships for mentioning their products and services.
Affiliate marketing means that I earn money for driving traffic to certain vendors' sites. In some instances, I make money when you click a link (about 5¢ if you're interested). Alternatively, other links I use generate a commission if you purchase from the vendor to which I linked (those rates range typically from 3%-15%). And some links are just links, because I share stuff I like because I like it, not just based on the potential income. Let's face it, I will likely never earn enough to pay for my shopping habit, so why sacrifice my integrity to try ;)
I also do sponsored posts, which means I either write a post on a particular topic requested by a PR Agency (or sometimes the company directly) or received an item for review (sometimes accompanied by payment). Any items marked 'c/o' were gifted to me, however I only share products or companies that I like, not just because they were offered to me. When I get paid to write a certain style of post, I'll tell you. I never accept pre-written content for payment because I think it's annoying when other blogs do, and defeats the purpose of a blog.
