Afternoon Tea at the Allis + Hello Monday Linkup

A few weeks ago while in Chicago visiting my bestie, we were able to land a reservation for afternoon tea at The Allis.  The setting was so charmingly quaint, and the food so adorable, we obviously couldn't resist snapping a few photos.

We each ordered a different herbal tea, Verbena mint- French verbena leaves with rich Moroccan mint and Chamomile citron- Egyptian chamomile blossoms with subtle citrus.  Afternoon tea also comes with a selection of pastries, tea sandwiches, and other sweets.  Everything was scrumptious, but we both agreed the sweet to savory ratio was a little off- more savory please!

The service was great, and we never had an empty teapot.

Either come very hungry, or plan to take some to go.  We were able to polish off the sandwiches, and about half of the sweets.  I think we could've eaten twice the smoked salmon and dill sandwiches; SO SO good.

I'll take a few of those in my next house please ;)

Overall, it was a really fun casual afternoon.  It may not become a tradition, mostly because it's hard to get a reservation, and a little pricey, but I'm happy we were able to experience it.

  9. I love afternoon tea and try and do it when I'm in London. If you add champagne they're even better... I really like your layering with three different layers on top. To keep me warm in the never ending snow here in Norway I'll try something similar. Thanks for the inspiration!
