an ode to oxblood

I really like alliteration.  And pretty things.  And how this gorgeous dark red hue all over this season functions as a neutral.  Seriously, what doesn't it match?  It pairs divinely with other jewel tones, rich neutrals, and even brights.  I am so excited to pair my recent purchases in this color with all my summer brights until Fall, or until it's no longer 90°... whichever comes first.  I kind of already went on an oxblood binge shopping in chicago, but I just can't get enough.  I am definitely shopping around for a pair of shoes in the color (my dark red chucks don't count...) and I would love a leather jacket, but that one probably won't happen soon.  I can still look and dream though, because that's free.  A luxurious handbag, pair of shoes, of sweater in this shade is definitely a viable investment piece though.  Below are my splurge picks:

This second set is made up of my steals, which might explain why I already own a few of them: the pleated midi skirt, the chinos, and the pullover.  By winter the earrings, skinny pants, and shoes will probably have joined my closet too.  I think I may be due for another closet cleaning soon to make space....

What are your oxblood picks for fall?  Or are you lusting after a different color altogether?
