My Holiday Party Essentials

It's that time of year!  Suddenly your calendar is packed with festive soirees, casual get-togethers, and all kinds of holiday extra-cirriculars.  While I absolutely love catching up and celebrating with friends and co-workers, it can also be a lot of extra effort and planning.  Over the last couple weeks, I've established my essentials for transitioning from my office job straight to a holiday party...

A small cross body purse

At work I carry a backpack, and that's the last thing I want to drag with me to a social occasion.  So I make sure and bring a small cross body with me to toss my phone, keys, a few cards, and my lipstick into.  This little black quilted one has been my go-to.  Shop other cute options here.

Bold lipstick

The easiest way to take a look from day to night is a bold lip color.  Lately I've been loving Maybelline's Burgundy Blush- it's super rich, lasts really well, and doesn't dry out; plus it's under $10!  I also carry my favorite clear lip liner- it keeps lipsticks and glosses from bleeding, without causing the dreaded post lipstick solid line.

Hanes sheer tights & a skirt

At my office, people just don't really dress up.  So most days I'm wearing something simple like jeans and a sweater.  Swapping my jeans for a skirt and Hanes sheers is the perfect way to transition anything into a more festive outfit.  I love that Hanes tights work to perfectly camouflage any dryness or stubble that may have manifest itself throughout the day too.  Not to mention, Hanes line of Power Shapers smooth it all out, so no worries if I indulged in fries with my sandwich at lunch ;)

Meal bar

Speaking of lunch... I don't do hungry well, and you just never quite know what to anticipate in the food arena at most get-togethers.  Unless I know it's a seated dinner, I bring along a meal bar- Clif bars are my favorite- and eat it about an hour before hand.  That way I won't end up starving, or spend time focusing on tracking down the best hors d'oeuvres when I should be socializing.

  1. I agree, cross body bags are perfect for parties as you can have both hands free so you can still enjoy a drink or two :)

  4. Jenna, love the ready-to-party pack! Smart and small, what's not to love? I really can appreciate the idea of having a protein-rich snack just in case. I'm the same way about either hunting down food instead of mingling (and I mean, really bad) or being hangry. I'm worse than a Snickers commercial when I'm hangry. Sadly, it's comical. Love your post! Merry Christmas!
