Wardrobe Workhorses + Linkup

Sometimes I find that my go-to staples get overlooked when it comes to blog content, so today I wanted to share a few of my 'wardrobe workhorses' as I like to call them- the pieces I return to again and again.  I certainly love my fair share of patterns and colors, but the core of my wardrobe definitely consists of gray, denim, and olive.  I love a casual-athetlic vibe, and comfort is key.
After a serious diet detox November-January, I was due for some new denim.  I've heard great things about ACNE Studios (despite the unfortunate name...) so when I stumbled upon a few pairs in my size at Nordstrom Rack, I couldn't wait to try them on.  Well let me tell ya, they're amazing.  The denim retains its shape wonderfully, they suck everything in without feeling restricting, and I love the simple design- clean lines, plain pockets, and minimal distressing.  I snagged this exact dark wash pair, and this gray pair.  I find they run about a half size generous.

Naturalizer Veronica loafers (sign up for emails and get 20% off with code 'SJM20')
Naturalizer sent me these loafers about a month ago, and I have been wearing them non-stop!  They elevate any outfit- I love them with skinny jeans, shirt dresses, and I even rocked them with wide-leg crops the other day.  They are also crazy comfortable.  If I didn't just get these black loafers in the mail the other day (eeeeek serious splurge!) then I would definitely consider ordering the Veronica in black too.  They run TTS.

Gap modal tee
I have this tee in four colors, and I wear one at least once (if not 2-3x) a week!  They're super soft, have a very flattering drape, and I love the longer length sleeve.  Not to mention they're super affordable- if you watch for a 40% off sale, they're under $15!  I wash mine on cold and hang dry, and they've held up tremendously well!

State of G cardigan
I wear this cardigan probably twice a week, no joke.  It's the perfect boyfriend cut, supremely soft, and goes with everything.  I love layering it under my utility jacket or suede moto jacket, or tossing it on over a dress.  The pockets are the perfect size, and actually securely hold what you put in them (anyone else's iPhone constantly falling out of jacket pockets?!).

Alternative camo sweatshirt
I snagged this a few months ago at the Rack (when I got my ACNE jeans) and it's become my weekend staple.  It's super soft, and olive, so I love it, duh ;)

Gap color block leggings
These cotton, colorblock leggings are an absolute favorite.  I have them in both blue and gray, and they're also a serious weekend staple.  I love that they're cotton- it just feels a little more breathable than the usual polyester legging fabric.  They're also super flattering.  Gap also introduced a capri version as well, yay!  Somehow these haven't made the blog, but you can see them on Instagram here and here.

Vince Preston slip-ons
Somehow I have never blogged these, yet I wear them all the time!  They're just so easy, comfortable, and seem to go with everything.  My favorite recent combo was wearing them with this skinny trouser, cashmere sweater, and a blazer for a very 'smart casual' look.  I have them in pewter, which isn't available online anymore, but that navy is seriously tempting!

And since it's Monday that means Linkup Day! (yes, totally a proper noun)

  2. Those are great basics to rely on! I recently purchased a pair of silver loafers and not only have they turned out to be incredibly comfortable, they are so amazing in all of their metallic glory! They are going to be on repeat for me as well!

  3. Great selection of basics! Jeans, loafers and T-shirts are my go-to everyday items. I need to get a hoodie sweatshirt though. I love the silver slip-ons and boyfriend cardigan.
