dots + stripes

When mixing prints, I think a good 'entry-level' approach is keeping a monochromatic palette.  By mingling stripes and dots in the same color, there isn't too much visual interest (therefore avoiding looking like a crazy person...).  Another note when pattern mixing is to mix similar scale patterns.  These are both smaller stripes and dots.  Successfully mixing a huge pattern with a tiny intricate one is challenging (possible, but challenging).  Since these are both navy and small, it makes mixing them safely subtle.
