New York City Day Three

Alright, I keep putting off New York recaps because I don't want to accept that it's over.  It was SUCH a great weekend and I already cannot wait until next year!  (If you missed the first couple posts, see day one hereday two here, and the RewardStyle Party here.)

Our third and last day was definitely the most mellow.  We woke up early to pack our suitcases, did a little more shopping, grabbed a quick lunch, and then Ubered it to the airport.

Our primary shopping goal was to find a Zara, since St. Louis doesn't have one.  I really wanted to try on this jacket, but the location we went to didn't have it.  There were plenty of other pretty things that caught my eye, but ultimately lack of suitcase space won out and I didn't get anything.

Then for lunch, my favorite trusty restaurant app recommended Leña Latin Grill.  If I had to pick just one genre of food to subsist on for the rest of my life, it would be Latin food.  Just feed me all the rice, beans, and plantains please.

I loved how the menu was set up, lots of choices!  This seemed to be a trend in the fast-casual New York City dining scene, and I'm a fan.  Ultimately, I decided on a plate, because that meant I got to pick two sides, and I am all about trying everything.  We both got the grilled chicken, but got different sides and sauces.  I also ordered a sweet corn arepa, because when arepas are on the menu, I can't not order one.  It was delicious.

Caryl settled on the grilled chicken plate with black beans, cilantro rice, and pico de gallo.  I got the grilled chicken with tostones (seasoned, smashed and fried plantains), yucca fries and the smokey chili pepper sauce.  Usually I try not to eat an entirely brown meal, but yucca fries and tostones (which my computer's autocorrect is quite adamantly trying to replace with tastiness, which isn't necessarily wrong...) are two of my absolute favorites and I haven't found anywhere in St. Louis that does them justice, plus vacation ;)

After lunch we snapped a few outfit photos, right in front of Madison Square Garden.  See that little brown sack?  It's got my leftover tostones, yucca fries, and arepa.  That sack is gold.  And yes, I shamelessly ate them as a snack on the airplane while I played my Gameboy.  If I'm going to sit in an uncomfortable seat in a tube in the sky for two hours, I'm gonna do my best to make it enjoyable.

If you follow me on Snapchat, roberts_jenna,  you know it's not a weekday without a bathroom selfie.  So obviously I had to post a Monday bathroom selfie, sleepy eye circles and all, from NYC.

And one last snap of New York City on the way to the airport.  Bye New York!!  See you next year!

  2. Great casual look for a day of shopping and plane travel. I always bring snacks on the plane, I don't ever want to be hungry with food choices I don't want to eat.
