what I'm wednesday

2 comments:

loving metallic oxfords: if you follow me on instagram... you may have seen the three pairs of androgynous metallic shoes I ended up keeping.  I intended to keep just one, but really, when they're each under $45, who am I kidding trying to exercise self-control?
trying out teeth whitening pen: it was only $10 on amazon and I don't know if there's 30 minutes in my day that I'm not at work or eating/drinking to wear white strips.  It got great reviews, so hopefully it works!

watching numb3rs: so this is basically a show about a math genius who helps the FBI solve crimes, and I pretty much want to be a mathematician now.  I also have weird dreams about solving murders and almost getting blown up when I watch it too close to going to bed....

so not feeling fanny packs: or 'belt bags' as seems to be the new nomenclature.  Regardless of title, if I'm keeping my tampons in a pouch around my waist, I'm just not into it.  I'm also totally fighting the resurgence of overalls, but I'll save that for another day.

drinking pineapple coconut water: if this stuff wasn't $2.50 a box, it would be my primary source of hydration.  It's SO delicious, there's no added sugar, and it's super hydrating.  You just feel refreshed after drinking it.  Kind of the same satisfaction as a gatorade but without the slimy-sweet mouth sensation... And this is why I am not a food critic....

downloading rhonna designs: I basically paid 99¢ for the little chevron pattern (see below) but I'm realizing there are all kinds of other gems in this app.  I'm definitely still a fan of Over and Typic, but the little graphics in this are my new favorite.

Yea or nay on fanny packs?  Am I just a hater, or should they really stop before they even start?

Also a few other things that seem relevant to 'what I'm...'

excited that: one of my blog pins has almost 5,000 repins!!

looking forward to: my next giveaway :)  I've got about $200 worth of fabulous goodies to share with a lucky winner (anthropologie gift card, J.Crew jewels, sephora goodies, just to name a few...) So keep your eyes peeled!

over: the bar exam.  E is on his second-- he passed IL and then we ended up staying in IN for my job.  He's just finishing up this afternoon, and I'm so excited to have my husband/puppy-pooper back.  Obviously more for the earlier than the latter ;)

chicago

H&M jacket | J.Crew blouse | Old Navy pullover | J.Crew necklace | AG skinny cargos (in brown) | Hunter rain flats | Herschel backpack | Burberry satchel

I've decided that Chicago is my favorite place in the entire world.  Melodramatic much?  Maybe, but seriously I love it.  So. Much.  (in case my last trip didn't make it clear enough...) And the fact that it is only 4 hours away isn't bad either.

bootcut jeans

4 comments:

Guys... I have puddles of denim at my ankles and my jeans are touching the ground.  It feel SO strange.  Not until I pulled these babies out of my closet and squeezed into them did I realize how long it's been since I wore bootcut jeans.  Are bootcut jeans even cool anymore?  They still sell this pair at Nordstrom, so they must still be cool.  I'm going with yes.  Yes, bootcut jeans are still cool.
Disagree?  Let's vote... Yea or Nay to bootcut jeans?

what I'm wednesday

No comments:
packing for chicago: Just a little more than 48 hours until my bestie and I are reunited!  And since she's just the greatest and wants to snap all kinds of blog photos for me, I need to pack smart.  Way smarter than last time when I literally didn't bring anything that went together.  So, time to break out my trusty herschel backpack which will basically hold my blowdryer and makeup stuffs... no judgement if I bring a big suitcase on a three day road trip, right?

trying out FaceDoctor cleansing bar: I've had bad skin for... what feels like ever.  I've tried basically everything but acutane and proactive, and nothing has given me satisfactory or lasting results.  I always set these landmarks, like maybe when I'm 20 my skin will improve... Nope.  Maybe when I get married... Definitely not yet.  So, I'm open to whatever it takes.  I've heard rave reviews for this stuff, and a bar is only like $13 on Amazon... so if it sucks I'm at least not out anything.  If it's awesome I'll post my before and after and tell you how magical it is.  Fingers crossed.

depending on my hunter boots: it.just.keeps.snowing.  I'll spare you any more weather complaints.

missing my nordstrom days: I really like my current job, but I work in technology/agriculture/manufacturing.  Definitely not where I envisioned myself after college.  And some weeks when I have very uncreative projects, I really miss Nordstrom.  I loved helping guys shop and working with fashion.  It was just fun.  I wish I could just rotate jobs and spend a month at Nordstrom every now and again.

wishing i bought the j. crew crystal rectangle necklace: they're all gone, and the clear one is absolutely perfect for layering.  I keep checking to see if any pop back up, but so far no bueno.

eyeing the perfect striped tee: I have a white and navy striped slouchy shirt right now that I adore.  I got it for $7 from some sketchy clothes sale at the IU union.  I've worn it so many times the tag fell off and now I don't know which side is the front.  I got watermelon on one side so that's the back now.  Based on the insane amount of wear my current staple has seen, I think I can justify a splurge on this one, my size just needs to be left come March.  Curse you No Shop February, which should really be called 'Shop less and feel guilty February'...

What's been the highlight of your Wednesday?

Isn't this dapper puppy just too much?  I'm a little obsessed.  I'll be posting a tutorial soon, because I'll be making him like a dozen more so I may as well document the process.  Don't be surprised if he starts popping up in more outfits posts with coordinating bow ties, because... adorable.
Hope you're having a great day!

carmel + navy

blazer: the limited | blouse, necklace: j. crew | jeans: j.crew factory | clutch, flats: target

Both these tassel loafers and carmel colored blazer were purchases on a whim.  I just stumbled upon each item at a price I couldn't pass up, and months later I am thrilled I did.  Each piece is super versatile, and pretty much a wardrobe staple.  Since neither is available, I've picked out a few current versions of both tassel loafers and carmel blazers I love.

Hope you're having a great monday!

chicago bound

It's on the calendar, I'm officially headed to Chicago this coming weekend, and I am SO excited.  Like ALL CAPS EXCITED.  I mean the city is great and all, but it's the company that gets me so stoked.  Nothing like a weekend with your BFF.  We're basically soul mates.  We just get each other, and it's a totally judgement free zone.  We've already got plans for meals, blog photos, doing eachother's eyelashes, and maybeee a little shopping. {I'm dropping a bunch of stuff at Plato's today so that money is free game despite 'No Shop February'}  We could pretty much sit in her adorable kitchen and drink herbal tea and chit-chat all weekend and have an absolute ball though, let's be real.  So, it's time to start planning outfits and packing.  Which means breaking out my favorite weekend bag, and browsing all the cute ones out there... and then not buying a new one because I have 13 more days of this no shopping nonsense to which I've committed myself.  But I can still share all my pretty finds with you lovely readers :)

And I can share my Ooops today, right?  I had a J.Crew gift card and I used it today and then a little extra.  J.Crew's sale was just SO good.  But I'm resolved to finish strong.  If this is my only trip up in 28 days of no-shopping, I feel pretty accomplished.  Plus I everything is really pretty, and some of it is really new.  I got everything below + one more necklace that's already disappeared.
Hope you had a wonderful Valentine's day! {  or Friday :)  }

brocade leggings two ways

8 comments:
Today I'm teaming up with the stylish Carylee at More Pieces of Me to show two ways to style these fabulous brocade leggings.  Carylee styled them casually for comfortable travel.  I love her idea of pairing rich violet with the taupe and rose gold tones.  I'll definitely be borrowing that combo soon :)  I opted for a little dressier 'night on the town' outfit since last time I wore them it was suited more for the daytime.

Make sure and swing by Carylee's blog to see more of her adorable outfit!
Happy Friday!
Check out a third outfit with these pants {here}

plaid on plaid

Can I just wear flannel every day?  It's so cozy.  This has probably been my most worn top this season.  It pairs with an impressive amount of options, and on chilly mornings it's only instinctive to grab something warm.  {And it's on sale now! I should probably buy four more since this winter just keeps going}
