Yesterday my husband made banana bread for no reason, and then delivered some to a few friends.  It was pretty adorable, and tremendously domestic.  I found such a keeper.  And if my day wasn't good enough already, I got to learn something really interesting too.  Ever noticed those little black filaments in your banana bread?  Well, I finally found out why they exist... since last I checked my bananas don't contain little black filaments.  The alkaline environment of a batter with baking soda results in discoloration of the pulp fibers. Fascinating, right?  It's the little things that get me excited.
